Turkey: Izban workers strike in Izmir Dec. 10

Strike to affect Izban rail operator in Izmir on December 10; transportation disruptions and overcrowded conditions expected

Warning

Event

As of Monday, December 10, disruptions have been affecting Izban, a commuter rail services operator in the city of Izmir, as workers hold a strike since 05:00 (local time) to denounce low wages. Delays and cancelations are expected on the Izban line linking the suburbs to the city center, and serving the Adnan Menderes International Airport (ADB). Overcrowded conditions on alternative means of transportation (bus, taxi, private vehicle) are likely.

Advice

Individuals present in the area are advised to confirm their train schedule, allow for extra time to reach their destination, and seek alternative means of transportation when necessary.
