Ecuador: Multiple deaths reported after bus accident in La Concordia Jan. 16

A coach bus collided with a tractor trailer in La Concordia (Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas province) on the morning (local time) of Wednesday, January 16. Officials indicate four people died, and at least eight others were wounded, when the interprovincial bus crashed on the Esmeraldas-Santo Domingo section of the E20 highway. Responding fire departments reportedly used special equipment to extract passengers from the bus wreckage and transportation disruptions were reported throughout the morning in La Concordia.
