Spain: Orange and red weather alerts for northwestern regions January 22

Weather officials issue orange and red alerts for snow and ice for nine provinces in northwestern Spain January 22; transportation disruptions possible

Orange weather alerts (the second-highest level on a four-point scale) for snow and ice were issued on Tuesday, January 22, for eight provinces in northwestern Spain: Álava, Cantabria, León, Palencia, Asturias, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, and Burgos. A red weather alert (the highest level on a four-point scale) has been issued for the province of Navarra. The alerts will run until at least Thursday, January 24. Associated transportation disruptions are expected, along with possible power outages. Residual disruptions are possible in the coming days.
