Spain: Barcelona metro services limited February 25-28

Barcelona's metro workers called for a strike from Monday, February 25, to Thursday, February 28, that will likely halve services during peak hours and result in transportation disruptions and associated delays. The strike will involve periods of two-hour work stoppages from 07:00 to 09:00 (local time), 16:00 to 18:00, and 22:30 and 00:30 from Monday to Thursday. Workers must maintain a minimal level of service, or approximately half the trains, during the strike though the Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) warned of "serious effects" on operations. The Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat commuter rail will increase operations on trains between Plaza Espanya and Fira Barcelona Gran Via to alleviate some of the expected effects of the metro strike. 

The strike corresponds with Barcelona's hosting of the Mobile World Congress, an international conference for the mobile phone industry, at the Fira Barcelona from Monday to Thursday. Large public transportation disruptions are expected as well as a heightened demand for taxis and congestion on alternate forms of transportation.
