Turkey: Demonstration planned in Istanbul February 25

The Marmara Dungeons Solidarity Initiative, established by the People's Democratic Party (HDP) and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), is planning to stage a demonstration in front of Bakirköy prison in Istanbul beginning at 12:00 (local time) on Monday, February 25, in support of Kurdish political leader Abdullah Ocalan, held in prison by Turkish authorities since 1999. A heightened security presence and road closures are expected near the demonstration site; clashes between demonstrators and security forces cannot be ruled out.
