Gabon: Further nationwide student protests likely

Further nationwide student demonstrations are likely to take place in the coming days to denounce a suggested reform of the scolarship system. On Monday, April 8, students protested in Libreville, Franceville, Lambaréné, Makokou, Moanda, Port-Gentil, and Oyem. In Port-Gentil, the security forces used tear gas to disperse the crowd. Increased security measures and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of any demonstration.
