Russia: Indefinite protests in Arkhangelsk to continue April 15

Hundreds of people have protested in Arkhangelsk since Saturday, March 30, to denounce the planned construction of a major waste deposit, expected to handle garbage from Moscow. The waste deposit will reportedly handle approximately 6 percent of the total volume of household waste produced in Moscow. Conservationists claim the facility will cause significant damage to the environment and contaminate local wetlands.
