Heatwave forecast to hit Belgium from July 23- 25; drink fluids and avoid outdoor and strenuous activities

Belgium is forecast to experience high temperatures beginning Tuesday, July 23, through at least Thursday, July 25. Temperatures are expected to rise up to 38°C (100°F) with nightly lows at 20° (68°F). Meteorological authorities have not issued heatwave warnings yet, though are closely watching temperatures over the coming days.

Individuals in Belgium are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid strenuous activities or spending time outdoors, particularly during midday, wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and avoid dehydrating liquids, such as alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks, and seek immediate medical attention if exhibiting symptoms of heat stroke, such as nausea, confusion, headache, rapid and strong pulse, and dry skin.
