Recovery efforts are ongoing in the city of Kaiyuan (Liaoning province) as of Thursday, July 4, after a rare tornado moved through the region. The tornado hit the city at approximately 17:15 (local time) on Wednesday, July 3, causing significant material damages and killing at least six people. Another 190 people suffered injuries and emergency personnel rescued at least 210 residents from damaged buildings. Power outages were reported in the area and search and rescue activities are underway. Government officials are still assessing damages in the city and localized commercial and transportation disruptions are anticipated in the coming days.
