Costa Rica: Nationwide strike and protests planned July 17, 22, 26

Various groups have called for unified nationwide strikes and protests throughout Costa Rica. This includes teachers, municipal workers, truck drivers, and healthcare employees.

Disgruntled truck drivers will hold a march and blockade on Wednesday, July 17, to protest government policies in San José. Though the time and starting point of the driven march is unclear, they will proceed to the Presidential House.

Associated transportation disruptions are to be expected along the protest routes.

In addition, various groups have called for a nationwide strike to take place on Monday, July 22, and Friday, July 26. Separate groups will organize protests across the country, though the majority should be concentrated in San José, near government buildings and public squares.

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are expected in the vicinity of all protest. Public and commercial services, as well as transportation, will be affected.
