The Sindicato da Hotelaria do Algarve is calling for a strike and protest in Algarve on Thursday, August 1, to demand better working conditions. Participants intend to protest at the union's headquarters on Rua Brites de Almeida in Faro at 16:00 (local time) on the same day as the strike.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are possible. Service disruptions in hotels and other businesses across the region are also possible.
