South Africa: Demonstrations scheduled in Cape Town and Pretoria July 31

Demonstrations in support of Saharawi and Basque people to take place in Cape Town and Pretoria July 31; heightened security measures and transportation disruptions expected

The National Education, Health, and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU) have called for demonstrations in Cape Town and Pretoria on Wednesday, July 31, in support of Saharawi and Basque people's right to self-determination. The protest is part of NEHAWU's international solidarity program. In Cape Town, protesters will gather outside the Parliament building from 12:00 to 14:00 (local time). In Pretoria, protesters will gather at 10:00 in front of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain and march towards the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Localized transportation disruptions along with increased security measures are expected around demonstration sites.
