Poland: Nationwide heatwave warnings August 27-September 2

Authorities issue heatwave warnings across the country from August 27- September 2; drink fluids and avoid outdoor and strenuous activities

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) warned that extremely high temperatures are forecast throughout Poland from Tuesday, August 27, through Monday, September 2. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 30-33°C (86-91°F) in most areas throughout the week. Particularly affected areas include the capital Warsaw, Łódź, Wrocław, and Poznań

Advice

Individuals in Poland are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid strenuous activities or spending time outdoors, particularly during midday, wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and avoid dehydrating liquids, such as alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks, and seek immediate medical attention if exhibiting symptoms of heat stroke, such as nausea, confusion, headache, rapid and strong pulse, and dry skin.
