Portugal: Truck drivers announce strike for August 12 despite ongoing negotiations

Truck drivers' unions have called for another strike to take place on Monday, August 12, despite ongoing contractual negotiations with the government. Various businesses, including airports and waterway transport services, are implementing measures to avoid any fuel shortage impact. The administration at Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS), however, stated that challenges to operations are not predicted as of now.

Government stated it has two months-worth of fuel supply should there be any fuel shortages as a result of the strikes.

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are expected in the vicinity of all protests, which tend to come as blockades in metropolitan centers.
