El Salvador: Government deploys police to border regions as of September 12
Government increases security at borders with additional police deployment September 12; heightened security presence near borders

The El Salvadoran government announced that as of Thursday, September 12, it would deploy 800 additional police forces to its borders with Honduras and Guatemala to impede passage of US-bound immigrants. In addition to the police, another 350 immigration officials will be present at La Hachadura, near the Guatemalan border, to review travel and identification documents of all migrants.
A heightened security presence, increased checkpoints, transportation delays, and processing delays at these border regions are to be expected.
