A 6.7-magnitude earthquake strikes off coast of Fiji; no immediate tsunami threat
Event
A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck approximately 30 km (18 mi) north-northeast of Ndoi Island around 04:00 (local time) on Monday, September 2. The quake occurred at a depth of about 616 km (383 mi). According to the US National Tsunami Warning Center, there is no threat of a tsunami from the earthquake.
Aftershocks are possible in the region over the coming hours.

Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor the situation and prepare for aftershocks.
In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (e.g. under a table), move away from the windows, and not attempt to leave a building unless there is an immediate danger.
