Honduras: Highway collapse reported in Cucuyagua September 10

A crater of an estimated 30 meters (98 ft) on Highway CA-4 near Cucuyagua has produced significant transportation disruptions as of Tuesday, September 10. Heavy rains caused the highway to collapse, creating a crater that has rendered the road impassable. The incident has therefore stalled traffic and blocked access to customs posts in nearby Guatemala and El Salvador.

Significant transportation delays in the immediate vicinity of the crater and in surrounding areas should be expected during the coming days and weeks.
