Malta: Migrants riot in Ħal Far October 20

At least one policeman was injured after a riot broke out at a migrant detention center in Ħal Far on Sunday, October 20. The migrants reportedly took control of part of the compound, torching several rooms and cars in the process. Police later managed to regain control of the center.

A heightened security presence in Ħal Far is possible in the coming hours and days as the situation normalizes. Further riots are possible in the near term.
