Mexico: Transport union announces national strike and road blocks October 29
Transport union plans a national strike and road blocks, including on roads to Mexico City, on October 29; heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions expected

The Alianza Mexicana de Organización de Transportistas Asociación Civil (AMOTAC) transport union has called for a national strike and road blocks on Tuesday, October 29. Participants plan to block the main roads in all states starting at 08:00 (local time). This includes blocking the main entrances and exits to Mexico City with caravans from the states of Puebla, Hidalgo, Morelos, Querétaro, the State of Mexico, and the city of Toluca. Several demonstrations are also scheduled to take place on the following roads:
- Marquesa (Toluca to Mexico City)
- Queretaro to Cuautitlan
- Cuernavaca to Mexico City
- Puebla to Cordova
- Congreso de la Unión
A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are expected throughout the country.
