Nationwide protests over a fuel price hike and accompanying clashes between protesters and security forces have left at least 36 people dead in Iran as of Sunday, November 17. Since protests began on Friday, November 15, security forces have reportedly fired live ammunition, tear gas, and water cannons to disperse protesters; notably, security forces have fired tear gas at protesters in Tehran's Martyrs' Square. Also, on Sunday, police arrested some 40 people during related demonstrations in Yazd. Protests have been recorded in more than 50 Iranian cities.
Widespread internet disruptions continued throughout the country as of Sunday.
