Libya: LNA regains control of El Feel oil field November 27

Event

On Wednesday, November 27, Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) regained control of El Feel oil field after forces aligned with the Government of National Accord (GNA) briefly seized the facility. Production at the oil field, located near Murzuq, was halted on Wednesday after the LNA launched several airstrikes that landed near the perimeter of the facility. According to the National Oil Corporation, production at the oil field will remain suspended until the cessation of military activities in the area.  

Context

The LNA launched an offensive into southern Tripoli on April 4. The advance halted 10-15 km (6-9 mi) south of central Tripoli within a week and frontlines have remained largely static since. Some have moved south, out of the city. The initial offensive also triggered several foreign missions and international organizations to temporarily withdraw or to otherwise consider their international footprint in Libya. Central Tripoli itself remains permissive and conducive to most international operations, provided professional security providers are engaged.
