Iran: 4.5-magnitude earthquake reported near Borazjan on January 8

Event

The US Geological Survey recorded a 4.5-magnitude earthquake in Borazjan (Bushehr province) on Wednesday, January 8, at 06:49 (local time) at a depth of 10 km (6 mi). The earthquake occurred at about 17 km (10.5 mi) south southeast of Borazjan, near the Bouchehr nuclear plant. It was not immediately reported if damage was caused to the center. There were no immediate reports of injuries and no tsunami warning were issued. Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
