Mexico: 5.8-magnitude earthquake hits Oaxaca January 4

The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 5.8-magnitude earthquake approximately 7 km (4 mi) south of Santo Domingo Zanatepec (Oaxaca state) at 22:40 (local time) on Saturday, January 4. According to the USGS, the quake struck at a depth of about 97 km (60 mi). There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
