Mexico: Protest planned in Tlalnepantla and Toluca January 17 /update 1

Event

University students in Tlalnepantla and Toluca have called for a protest to oppose a two-peso transportation fare hike being implemented in the State of Mexico due to an agreement between the Ministry of Mobility and carriers.

Participants in Tlalnepantla are scheduled to gather at the Tlalnepantla Cathedral as of 15:00 (local time) and will later proceed to the Mobility Secretary offices. Those in Toluca are expected to gather at the Cosmovitral at 15:00.

Related protests in the State of Mexico remain possible in the coming days. Associated transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of the gathering site and subsequent march.
