Protesters in Hong Kong rallied for a second consecutive day on Sunday, February 16, to oppose plans to convert some buildings into coronavirus (COVID-19) quarantine centers. Riot police were deployed to Fo Tan district (New Territories) amid a gathering of approximately 100 people. Associated demonstrations were reported in other districts. As of Sunday, there have been 57 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hong Kong.

Further protests are possible in Hong Kong over the near term. A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of any demonstration.
