Iran: 5.7-magnitude earthquake strikes near Turkey-Iran border February 23

The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 5.7-magnitude earthquake approximately 44 km (27 mi) northwest of Salmas in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province near the border with Turkey at 09:23 (local time). According to the USGS, the quake hit at a depth of 10 km (6 mi). No damages were immediately reported.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected areas over the coming hours and days.
