South Africa: Authorities issue weather warning for western regions February 25

SA Weather Service issues weather warning over Western Cape province February 25; take precautionary measures

On Monday, February 24, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) warned about temperatures likely to reach up to 42°C (105.8°F) and strong winds up to 65 kph (40.4 mph) in Western Cape.

As of Tuesday, February 25, SAWS have issued a veld fire warning over the West Coast District interior, Cape Wineland, and Central Karoo. While temperatures are expected to cool down as of Wednesday, February 26, veld fires remain likely over the coming days.

A heightened security presence, road closures, telecommunication disruptions, and power outages are to be expected in the vicinity of any wildfire.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, keep abreast of warnings, anticipate transportation and power disruptions, confirm road conditions prior to heading out, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities, notably evacuation orders.
