According to the state television, a blast targeting Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok occurred in Khartoum in the morning (local time) on Monday, March 9. The prime minister was heading to his office when his convoy was attacked. He was reportedly subsequently moved to a safe location and is in good condition. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

A heightened security presence is likely across Khartoum in the coming hours.
