Militias affiliated with the Libyan National Army (LNA) killed a civilian and injured six others in a rocket attack in eastern Tripoli on Thursday, April 9. Reports suggest that the rocket landed on the Ghout al-Rumman district of Tajoura in eastern Tripoli. The health ministry later stated that the LNA forces had also targeted the Al-Khadra Hospital in Tripoli at least three times earlier on Thursday, leading to its provisional shutdown. However, there were no reports of any casualties or damage to infrastructure in these attacks.
Context
The Libyan National Army (LNA) launched an offensive on Tripoli on April 4, 2019, and prompted evacuations of foreigners from Tripoli on April 7, 2019. LNA and Government of National Accord (GNA) airstrikes have been sporadically reported since April 8, 2019. The bulk of recent fighting has been concentrated in the southern suburbs of the capital.
