Cambodia: Thai political activist abducted in Phnom Penh June 5

Human rights sources reported on Friday, June 5, that prominent political activist Wanchalearm Satsaksit was abducted and bundled into an unknown vehicle in Phnom Penh on Thursday, June 4. After being summoned by military authorities following the 2014 coup in Thailand, Satsaksit fled the country. A small group protested the activist's disappearance in Bangkok on Friday. Other Thai exiled activists have also been reportedly kidnapped Laos and Vietnam after fleeing Thailand in 2014.

Additional kidnapping incidents, especially of political activists, are possible in Cambodia in the near-term.
