Forest fires kill four and hospitalize nine in Luhansk region on July 7; follow authority directives

Four people have died and nine others were hospitalized as forest fires swept through areas of Luhansk region on Tuesday, July 7. The fire also destroyed around 80 holiday chalets and 45 houses in the settlements of Voche and Smolianynove in Novoaidarsky district and residents are being evacuated due to the fire. Over 350 firefighters are still attempting to contain the blaze as of Tuesday evening (local time).

Further spread of the fires is possible over the coming days. A heightened security presence, road closures, and power outages are to be expected in the vicinity of any forest fires.
