Tropical disturbance develops into Tropical Storm west of China’s Hainan Province August 1; follow government directives

Event

A tropical disturbance has strengthened into a tropical storm west of China's Hainan Province on Saturday, August 1. Tropical Storm Sinlaku has reached winds of up to 65km (40 mph) and, as of 16:00 (local time), was located 322km (200 miles) north of Da Nany, Vietnam. The storm continues to strengthen and is predicted to make landfall in the early hours of Sunday, August 2, north of Thanh Hoa City, Vietnam.

The Vietnam National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and possible flooding over the coming days.
