Bermuda: Preparations ongoing as Hurricane Teddy approaches September 20 /update 1

Bermuda authorities have announced that preparations are underway for tropical storm conditions ahead of an expected near-miss by Hurricane Teddy between Sunday-Monday, September 20-21. The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) in its 23:00 (local time) advisory on Saturday, September 19, reported that Teddy is approximately 400 miles (644 km) south-southeast of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph (185 kph), moving northwest at 13 mph (21 kph). The storm is forecast to turn northwards and pass an estimated 175 miles (282 km) east of Bermuda with tropical-storm-force winds and heavy surf expected over the next 48-hours. Authorities have said that all government buildings and public schools will be closed on Monday, as will public transportation, with a full reopening expected on Tuesday following Teddy's passing. 

Teddy's forecast brush with Bermuda comes following the passage of Hurricane Paulette on Monday, September 14, which led to widespread power outages and disruptions caused by fallen debris.
