The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck 149 km (93 mi) north-northeast of Labasa in the South Pacific Ocean, northeast of Fiji's Vanua Levu, on Tuesday, September 15. The quake struck at 16:12 (local time) at a depth of 10 km (6 mi). There have been no immediate reports of injuries or damage. No tsunami warning has been issued.
Further aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
