Teachers set to hold demonstration in Phnom Penh on October 5; avoid demonstrations as a precaution

Warning

Event

An authorized rally organised by the Cambodian Independent Teachers' Association (CITA) is set to take place in Phnom Penh on Monday, October 5, to call for teachers' rights. Demonstrators will reportedly gather at Freedom Park from 08:00 to 12:00 (local time) before marching to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and the Office of the Prime Minister of Cambodia ('Peace Palace').

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are expected near any demonstration site, and clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Those in Phnom Penh are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all protests due to the risk of violence, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
