Spain: Demonstrators gather to protest COVID-19 restrictions in Madrid on October 12

Hundreds of supporters of the far-right Vox party have gathered in Madrid on Monday, October 12, to protest against renewed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions in the Community of Madrid. The demonstrators gathered in their vehicles at 12:00 (local time) at Plaza de Colon before driving along Paseo de la Castellana. As of Monday afternoon, reports suggest that there have been no clashes and the protest remains peaceful.

Associated business and transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are to be anticipated near all demonstration sites.
