Honduras: Activists to protest against corruption in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula December 5
Activists to protest in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, Honduras, from 1700 Dec. 5. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.
Event
Activists plan to protest in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula Dec. 5. The protests will be held at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras, UNAH) in Tegucigalpa and the 105 Brigada roundabout in San Pedro Sula, both starting at 1700. Participants could march through nearby roads; however, organizers have not confirmed any march routes. The actions are to protest perceived government corruption and mismanagement of the aftermath of Hurricanes Eta and Iota. Events in both cities are likely to draw large crowds.
Police will probably deploy to monitor the protests. Isolated skirmishes are possible if police attempt to disperse those who block roads. Localized traffic disruptions are likely near the rally locations.
Advice
