South Africa: Opposition EFF to protest in Cape Town Dec. 10
Opposition EFF calls for protest march from CPUT to Department of Labour, Cape Town, South Africa from 0900 Dec. 10. Disruptions likely.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) opposition group has called for a protest in Cape Town from 0900 Dec. 10. Participants will gather at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) before marching to the Department of Labour, located on the corner of Riebeeck Street and Long Street. Attendance will likely be in the low hundreds.
An increased security presence is likely near the protest area. Police may move to disperse protesters if they are deemed to be in breach of COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings. Transport disruptions are also possible in the vicinity of the protest location.
Advice
Avoid the protest area as a precaution. Allow additional time for travel in downtown Cape Town Dec. 10.
