Sri Lanka: Authorities issue Typhoon warning due to Tropical Cyclone Burevi on December 2

Sri Lankan authorities issued a typhoon warning on Wednesday, December 2, as Tropical Cyclone Burevi approaches the country. As of 05:30 (local time) Burevi was located over South-West Bay of Bengal 240 km (149 miles) away from Trincomalee (Sri Lanka) and was recording maximum sustained winds of 72 kph (45 mph). Cyclone Burevi is expected to intensify through the course of Wednesday and cross the Sri Lanka coast close to Trincomalee

Storm conditions are likely to cause wind damage, flooding, and landslides in northeastern Sri Lanka from Wednesday along with associated disruptions to transport, businesses, and utilities.
