The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced that a water outage would occur in parts of Kurunegala, North Western Province, 0900 Dec. 9-0900 Dec. 10. The agency attributed the disruptions to maintenance works at Kurunegala Lake.
Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Prolonged and recurrent water supply disruptions are possible in the coming days if maintenance work continues beyond the planned schedule.
Kurunegala is around 40 km (25 miles) northwest of Kandy, Central Province.

Stock up on drinking water in advance. Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
