Libya: Authorities responding to fuel station explosion and fire in Al Bivio, Tajoura district, late Jan. 8

Firefighters are responding to an explosion and major fire in the Al Bivio area of Tajoura district late Jan. 8. It remains unclear whether the blast was the cause or result of the fire. There have been no immediate reports of injuries. Al Bivio is located 11 km (7 miles) east of Tripoli.

Increased security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely near the incident site. Authorities could evacuate buildings and shops in the area as a precaution. Lingering disruptions are possible after crews extinguish the fire as investigations and recovery operations continue.

Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear. Allow additional time to reach destinations near the scene of the incident through at least the end of Jan. 8; seek alternative routes to circumvent the location.
