Sudan Professionals Association to protest in Khartoum, Sudan, Jan. 19 and 21. Avoid all demonstrations as a precaution

Members of the Sudan Professionals Association (SPA) have called for protests in Khartoum Jan. 19 and Jan. 21. Activists are protesting the death of a local youth while in the custody of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. The group is calling for an end to perceived rights violations by the security organization. Similar recent protests by the SPA on the same issue have been held at the Office of the Attorney General and the Cabinet Office, also in Khartoum.
An increased security presence is likely at all events. Security forces may attempt to disperse participants using force. Transport disruptions are also possible in the vicinity of all demonstrations
