A magnitude-5.8 earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean, northwest of Vanua Levu, Fiji, at 0849 FST Feb. 3. The epicenter was about 145 km (90 miles) north of Ba, Fiji. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles) and likely produced moderate-to-light shaking in parts of northern Fiji.
