The epicenter was about 27 km (17 miles) northwest of Yasuj, Kohgiluyeh va Boyer Ahmad Province. Moderate shaking was felt in Kohgiluyeh va Boyer Ahmad Province and southern Esfahan Province, while light-to-moderate shaking occurred in parts of Fars and Khuzestan provinces. Further aftershocks are likely over the coming days.
The earthquake has caused moderate damage, including the partial collapse of several structures and landslides. Reports indicate that the quake injured at least 44 people in Esfahan and Kohgiluyeh va Boyer Ahmad provinces; the official casualty toll could rise in the coming hours. Intermittent power and water outages are ongoing in Sisakht, Kohgiluyeh va Boyer Ahmad Province.
Transport disruptions have occurred following the earthquake. A landslide has blocked the main road linking Yasuj and Sisakht in Kohgiluyeh va Boyer Ahmad Province.
