COVID-19-related business and gathering restrictions imposed in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam, as of Feb. 4. Some areas under lockdown.

Warning

Event

Officials are implementing business and gathering controls in Binh Duong Province, especially in Thu Dau Mot, following the confirmation of COVID-19 cases in the area. As of Feb. 4, activities involving large crowds are banned throughout the province. Authorities have also ordered the closure of several classes of nonessential facilities, including bars, cinemas, and sports facilities. Educational institutions are closed until further notice. Officials are discouraging nonessential interprovincial travel. Additional controls could be imposed either at the provincial or local level in the coming days. Binh Duong Province is immediately north of Ho Chi Minh City; restrictions could be extended to the city if additional COVID-19 outbreaks are discovered.

Stricter localized measures have been imposed in some areas. Residents Phu Hoa Ward in Thu Dau Mot are required to remain inside their homes unless leaving for essential purposes, such as purchasing food or seeking medical care. Nonessential passenger transport in and out of Phu Hoa Ward is banned. Outdoor gatherings of more than two persons are prohibited. All nonessential businesses in the specified locations are closed. The measures are set to last until further notice.

Officials have set up screening checkpoints on roads throughout Binh Duong Province. Additional security personnel will likely remain deployed in the province to enforce movement and gathering restrictions. Authorities will probably maintain a heightened security posture for the duration of the restrictions. Severe business and transport disruptions are likely, particularly in Thu Dau Mot, along with any other areas that come under lockdown orders.
