Informational

Event

Periods of reduced internet speeds will likely continue in Vietnam through at least Feb. 24. Operators stated that repair works to a section of the Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) undersea communications cable will likely conclude Feb. 24. The disruptions have been occurring since the cable broke down early January.

Users of domestic internet service providers, including FTP, Viettel, and VNPT, will probably continue to experience slow internet speeds and connectivity issues through at least Feb. 24. Issues are especially likely for users who access websites and services hosted outside of Vietnam.

Advice

Plan for possible continued communication and business disruptions due to reduced bandwidth. Consider alternative modes of communication, such as satellite connections, for critical business operations.
