Authorities have further extended the closure of Van Don International Airport (VDO) in Quang Ninh Province, northeastern Vietnam, through at least 1200 Feb. 13. The facility was initially closed Jan. 28 after officials discovered several coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among VDO employees. Authorities could close additional airports in northern Vietnam as a precautionary measure in the coming days.
VDO is around 81 km (50 miles) east-northeast of Hai Phong.
