Militants reportedly detonated an explosive device in an unspecified public square in the city of Saravan, Sistan va Baluchestan Province, at 09:30 March 21. At least one person was killed and three others wounded in the explosion. Authorities have not specified which militant group is responsible for the attack; however, previous militant attacks in the region have been carried out by the Jaish-ul-Adl (the Army of Justice), a Sunni Baluch nationalist militant group.
Authorities will almost certainly maintain a heightened security presence in the area over the coming days. Localized business and transport disruptions are possible as authorities investigate the incident.
