Cambodia: Authorities enforcing stricter COVID-19 restrictions in Phnom Penh and Kandal's Takhmao through April 28
Officials enacting stricter COVID-19 rules in Phnom Penh and Kandal's Takhmao, Cambodia, through April 28. Business disruptions likely.
Event
Authorities are enforcing stricter protocols in Phnom Penh and Kandal Province's Takhmao through April 28 to stem the spread of COVID-19. Only essential businesses, such as food establishments and medical facilities, can operate on-site. Government officials, journalists, and international or non-government organization workers may travel to work and must present work documents to officials when in public.
Residents must remain home, except when seeking assistance in an emergency situation or obtaining essential needs. Only two members of each household can leave their homes to obtain essential goods thrice a week. Gatherings are suspended, except for family members living in the same residence, funerals, and official meetings, among others. A 20:00-05:00 nightly curfew remains in place. Additionally, the government continues to ban nonessential trips in and out of Phnom Penh and Kandal Province as part of the nationwide interprovincial nonessential travel ban through at least April 20. Essential workers, goods transporters, individuals seeking urgent medical care, and emergency response personnel, among others, can continue traveling.
Authorities will probably maintain increased security protocols, including erecting checkpoints on main entry points to and from Phnom Penh and Takhmao, through at least April 28 to enforce restrictions. Significant business disruptions will likely continue due to the measures.
Advice
Heed the instructions of authorities. Avoid nonessential operations in areas impacted by the restrictions. Confirm transport reservations. Remain cooperative if questioned by law enforcement officers.
