Hungary: Authorities to ease some COVID-19-related domestic restrictions from April 24 due to decline in infection rates /update 24
Hungary to ease some COVID-19-related domestic restrictions from April 24. International entry restrictions remain in place.
Event
Authorities in Hungary plan to ease certain COVID-19 restrictions following a decrease in infection rates. Starting April 24, the nightly curfew will begin one hour later, running 23:00-05:00. All nonessential movement is prohibited during curfew hours. In addition, authorities will allow restaurants and cafes to reopen their outdoor spaces.
The following domestic measures remain in place:
Commuters may travel to work, even during curfew hours, provided they have the necessary documentation.
All events and official gatherings are prohibited; however, private family events are permitted with no more than 10 people in attendance.
Facemasks are mandatory on public transport and in enclosed public spaces.
International Entry Restrictions
Only Hungarian nationals and permanent residents are permitted to enter the country, though there are some limited exceptions. Foreign business travelers are permitted to enter Hungary without restrictions. Most other travelers, including residents and citizens, must quarantine for 10 days on arrival. Incoming travelers who do not have a residential address in Hungary must quarantine at government-designated facilities for 10 days. Travelers may leave quarantine early if two negative COVID-19 tests are presented in the first five days.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
